Crime against women ‘up under BJP rule’

All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev today said the Congress would consider giving ticket to women candidates in the state if they figured at the top in their national survey. While addressing a state-level women’s conference here she said the Narendra Modi government had failed to bring this Bill in Parliament despite having promised to do so. She said the people will no longer be befooled by Modi’s poll gimmicks and they will give a befitting reply to the BJP in the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.

She said the party was undertaking a survey across the nation to select Lok Sabha candidates and if women figure in the top three, the Mahila Congress will advocate their name before their national president Rahul Gandhi. Dev said it was lamentable that whenever the BJP formed the government at the Centre or in the state atrocities against the women increased.  Dev said the party will romp home all four seats in Himachal as the Congress cadres were full of enthusiasm.  While castigating the BJP for the skyrocketing LPG and fuel prices she said the BJP had been harping on the issue of price rise in 2014 but when in power it had failed to control the rising price of these commodities.

Congress’ state In-charge Rajni Patil, while speaking on the occasion, said the Congress has given respect to the women. She took the BJP to task for failing to bring the women’s reservation Bill and merely indulging in poll gimmicks over this issue.

Kuldeep Rathore, president, pradesh Congress committee, while addressing the gathering said their party will arrange a visit of their general secretary Priyanka Gandhi to energise the cadres and strengthen the party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

Mukesh Agnihotri, Leader of the Opposition, said the women will play a key role in ensuring the party’s victory on all four seats in the state.

Gurkirat Koti, party’s co-incharge was also present along with MLAs Dr Shandil and Lakhwinder Rana.
