MUMBAI: Railway crime branch recently arrested a 36-year-old man for robbing passengers after drugging them on long-distance trains plying out of Mumbai from Panvel, CSMT and Kalyan stations. Two associates are wanted.

“With the arrest of Jagdish Sahu, a native of Madhya Pradesh, we have solved five offences. Two gold chains, two gold rings, a sound system, an LCD TV set and Rs5,000 had been robbed from vulnerable passengers. We recovered loot worth Rs70,000 from MP,” said senior inspector Santosh Dhanvate, railway crime branch.

A passenger, Rajesh Mulaiyya (31), had been drugged by Sahu while travelling from Panvel to Mangalore. He spotted Sahu at Andheri station and raised an alarm on January 15. Sahu started to flee as Mulaiyya chased him. Patrolling personnel from GRP crime branch joined the chase and got hold of Sahu.
